A tribute to François Truffaut
During January we continue our tribute to François Truffaut – a lifelong cinephile who first made his cinematic mark as a fiery, contentious critic for Cahiers du cinéma in the 1950s, and himself continued as a director to reinvigorate cinema throughout the 1960s.

All films are with English subtitles.

The Bride Wore Black
(François Truffaut, 1968)
Julie Kohler tracks down, charms and kills five men who do not know her. What is her goal? What is her purpose? Francois Truffaut's The Bride Wore Black is intended as homage to Alfred Hitchcock, yet Truffaut is a master in his own right. The film is a marriage of the French new wave and Hollywood tradition, and it sets the tone and inspiration for the postmodern cinema to come such as Quentin Tarantino's epic Kill Bill

* French film with English subtitles.
