Tribute to Sam Peckinpah - The Wild Bunch (1969)

GROTE ZAAL | Online €5 | Kassa €6

Realistic and reinterpreted vision of the dying West in the early 20th century.

Tribute to Sam Peckinpah
Sam Peckinpah was one of the greatest and most original directors in the history of Hollywood, but it took decades until he finally got his due. Peckinpah forever changed action cinema, and he inserted both a dark edge and a vulnerable humanity into the Western genre. He created a stock company of some of the finest character actors of his time. And he was a total asshole, a huge pain in the ass, and a completely self-destructive drunk. They called him Bloody Sam. During April we will screen four of his hardboiled and superbly made films.

The Wild Bunch (1969)
An unrelenting, bleak tale of aging, scroungy outlaws (the 'wild bunch') bound by a private code of honor, camaraderie and friendship, who find that they are at odds with the society of 1913. Sam Peckinpah's provocative, brilliant yet controversial Western, is shocking for its graphic and elevated portrayal of violence and savagely-explicit carnage, yet hailed for its truly realistic and reinterpreted vision of the dying West in the early 20th century.
