Policeman refuses to arrest young man seen offering hashish to his school mates.

Spotlight: Romania. 2 returns in November and gives the stage to cinema and music. The festival will unfold every Tuesday evening at DNR with award winning films, exciting documentaries, heartfelt music in live performances, guests and talks, plus the extra-special event “Brancusi Filmed. Brancusi Composed” (silent film, live music).

All films are in Romanian with English subtitles.

Manager, former projectionist and lifetime cinephile, Victor struggles every single day to keep alive the Dacia Panoramic Cinema, one of the last remaining cinemas in today’s Romania. Followed by guest talk with Massimo Benvegnú (EYE Film Institute)

Cristi is a policeman who refuses to arrest a young man seen offering hashish to his school mates. ‘Offering drugs’ is punished by Romanian law. Cristi believes that the law is about to change and he does not want the life of a  young man to become a burden on his own conscience. (Jury Prize and Fipresci Prize, Un Certain Regard Cannes 2009)
