Celebrating Romania's 100th anniversary as an independent European state

This December, Romania celebrates it's 100th anniversay as an independant  European state. It has been an extraordinarily complex period of time, politically, socially and culturally, which has been reflected in decades of powerful Romanian cinema. An excellent reason to make the fourth edition of Spotlight: Romania a festive one! And instead of combining cinema with another artistic discipline, like in the three previous editions of the festival, this year the festival will exclusively celebrate Romanian cinematography.

The festival will showcase milestones of Romanian cinematography, films that reflect the history and development of its cinema in the past century, its most influential authors and internationally acclaimed films, starting with the early age of cinema until recent releases. Through all of these narratives and artistic points of view, the festival aims to offer the audience a glimpse into the lives of Romanians over the past century. The films will not only be shown on December 1st, but also during the DNR Filmclub on 4, 11 & 18 December.

During the festivalday there will also be lots of fun kids workshops, great food and a party to end the day in style. Check out the entire programm via the links below!
