Oktober staat in het teken van componist Ennio Morricone

A low-life bandit (Rod Steiger) and an I.R.A. explosives expert (James Coburn) rebel against the government and become heroes of the Mexican Revolution. An epic Spaghetti Western that raised the genre’s self-mythologising tendencies to operatic heights, the film can be considered a summation of Sergio Leone’s ever-inflating style, painted on his grandest canvas (with one of Ennio Morricone’s most bizarrely enchanting scores). Admired by Stanley Kubrick and the French authors of Cahiers du Cinéma, John Boorman called it “Both the greatest and the last western.”

October – Tribute to Ennio Morricone
In October we’ll have a tribute to the great Italian composer Ennio Morricone, who recently passed away (on July 6th, 2020). Morricone is rightly considered one of the world’s greatest film composers, a legend whose work has reached far beyond the scorched desert-scapes of Spaghetti Westers. Much sought after by filmmakers the world over for his matchless versatility and productivity, Morricone’s innovative soundworks and truly exhaustive range of musical styles have complemented practically every conceivable movie genre there is. Fondly referred to as il maestro by his peers, Morricone is just that: a master of his craft, a true virtuoso, effortlessly interweaving contrasting styles to produce some of the most sublime music of our day.
