A unique performance of Live Cinema

De Nieuwe Regentes is thrilled to host Vincent Moon for a unique performance of Live Cinema, a special site-specific creation, in which the French filmmaker/sound artist will present a selection of his own recordings of music and rituals around the world. Moving between the realms of documentary creation, ethnographic research, and filmic experimentation, this show explores the poetry at heart of personal and collective rituals, with films taken in every continent, in collaboration with hundreds of communities around the world.

Vincent Moon is a multidisciplinary artist working as independent filmmaker, photographer, and sound artist. He was recording music videos of indie rock musicians as well as some notable mainstream artists like Tom Jones, R.E.M., and Arcade Fire. Since 2009 he produces ethnographic experimental films and music recordings, based on material collected from his numerous travels. In his films and multimedia projects such as Híbridos: The Spirits of Brasil (2017) he aims to explore the boundaries between cinema, music, and expanded forms of modern rituals.

De Nieuwe Regentes is verheugd Vincent Moon te mogen ontvangen voor een unieke uitvoering van Live Cinema, een bijzondere creatie, waarin de Franse filmmaker/geluidskunstenaar een selectie van zijn eigen opnames van muziek en rituelen over de hele wereld zal presenteren. Bewegend tussen documentaire, etnografisch onderzoek en filmische experimenten verkent deze show de poëzie in het hart van persoonlijke en collectieve rituelen, met films die op elk continent zijn opgenomen, in samenwerking met honderden gemeenschappen over de hele wereld.

Vincent Moon is een multidisciplinaire kunstenaar die werkt als onafhankelijk filmmaker, fotograaf en geluidskunstenaar. Hij nam muziekvideo's op van indie-rockmuzikanten en van enkele opmerkelijke mainstream-artiesten zoals Tom Jones, R.E.M. en Arcade Fire. Sinds 2009 maakt hij etnografische experimentele films en muziekopnames, op basis van materiaal verzameld tijdens zijn talrijke reizen. In zijn films en multimediaprojecten zoals Híbridos: The Spirits of Brasil (2017) wil hij de grenzen verkennen tussen cinema, muziek en uitgebreide vormen van moderne rituelen.
